The Montana Governor's Conference on Workers' Compensation is taking place from September 11-13, 2024, in Butte, Montana.
Each year, speakers both local and national present on a variety of workers' comp topics to educate and stimulate the minds of stakeholders with the vision of building continuous improvement in Montana's workers' comp system. In addition to the training, the networking and relationship building is an essential part of the conference.
This year’s conference features an emphasis on medical topics and the power of healing through medicine. Among the many educational sessions will be a presentation led by two of Healthe’s Clinical experts, Silvia Sacalis, BS, PharmD, VP of Clinical Service, and Amanda Waltemath, PharmD, MPH, Director of Clinical Services.
The presentation, Prescribing Empathy: Weighing Patient Well-Being in Drug Therapy Trends, explores the intersection of patient-centric care and the evolving landscape of prescription drug trends in workers’ comp. This presentation will highlight the human impacts of prescription drug trends both positive and concerning – from shifts in opioid utilization to the rise of drug classes including dermatologicals and migraine agents.
This educational session will also cover:
- Patient safety and clinical appropriateness aspects of trending drug classes in workers’ comp
- Specialty medications, with an emphasis on patient-focused topics such as adherence, side effects, and site of care considerations
- The broader ecosystem of workers’ comp drug therapy, including supply chain and labor disruptions
- Developing trends such as the application of psychedelic agents and medical marijuana
The presentation will take place on September 12th at 1:30 PM in the King Ballroom.
