West Virginia Proposes Expansion to Firefighter Cancer Presumptions

Go to Advocacy & Compliance Home

West Virginia House Bill 2197 was introduced, written to expand the state’s cancer presumptions for firefighters to include three additional forms of cancer under workers’ comp.

If passed, the existing cancer presumption would expand to cover bladder cancer, mesothelioma, and testicular cancer. Furthermore, the state’s current cancer presumption has an expiration date of July 1, 2027. This bill would also extend that expiration date by one year.
