Virginia Considers Making Repetitive Trauma an Occupational Illness

Go to Advocacy & Compliance Home

Virginia Senate Bill 1112 was introduced, which would recognize injuries or diseases caused by repetitive trauma as occupational illnesses.

The bill specifies that these illnesses must result from repetitive and sustained physical stressors, including repetitive and sustained motions, exertions, posture stresses, contact stresses, vibrations, or noises.

Furthermore, the bill states that repetitive and sustained physical stress are not required to have occurred over a particular period of time, so long as the period of time over which such physical stress occurred can be reasonably identified.
