The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is seeking stakeholder input to shape its 2026 Medical Quality Review Annual Audit Plan. Comments will be accepted by January 16, 2026, at OMA@tdi.texas.gov.

The feedback collected will determine whether the audit focuses on either the medical necessity and appropriateness of prescribing topical analgesics, or the compliance of utilization review peer reports with Official Disability Guidelines, standards of care, and reviewer selection requirements.

The resulting audit could potentially shape future rule changes that impact prescribing practices, utilization review processes, and service delivery.

The DWC may conduct both audits if resources allow.
