The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will host a virtual public hearing on its proposed rule to protect workers from hazardous heat exposure in indoor and outdoor workplaces on June 16, 2025.
The public hearing will begin at 9:30 AM EDT and continue on subsequent weekdays if necessary. Those interested in speaking must complete a Notice of Intention to Appear form by May 2, 2025.
The hearing can be viewed online without registering. Instructions for watching the hearing will be posted on OSHA's rulemaking webpage.
Currently, there is no federal standard for extreme temperature safety, and the adoption of such rules could impact worker safety requirements for a multitude of workplaces. The possible reduction of temperature-related injuries and illnesses could minimize their impact on workers’ comp systems.
