New York Senate Bill 4612 was introduced, which would recognize massage therapists as healthcare providers eligible to provide care for injured workers.
According to the bill, injured workers could seek care from massage therapists, but massage therapists would not be permitted to establish workplace injury causation or disability. Licensed massage therapists would be required to complete a formal course of study and pass an exam in accordance with the education law, the regulations of the Commissioner of Education, and the requirements of the Board of Regents.
