Nevada Could Expand Treatment Choices for First Responders

Back to Regulatory Recap

Nevada Senate Bill 376 was introduced, which would allow first responders with claims for lung or heart disease to choose their own physician or chiropractor if fewer than 12 appropriate specialists are available on the Division of Industrial Relations (DIR) list of authorized providers.

Additionally, if an injured employee or their health insurer pays for treatment, the bill requires carriers to reimburse out-of-pocket costs within 30 days. If reimbursement is delayed, penalties may include three times the amount due for each day of delay, alongside any benefits or fines owed to the employee.
