Nevada Considers Update to Requirements for Provider Panels

Back to Regulatory Recap

Nevada Assembly Bill 469 was introduced, seeking to reform how insurers maintain the lists of physicians and chiropractic physicians who can treat injured workers. This is the third bill proposed in 2025 with the goal of making such adjustments.

This bill would direct the Department of Industrial Relation’s (DIR) to divide the state into three geographic regions for the purpose of creating insurers' lists of treating physicians. Additionally, the bill would reduce the required number of physicians, chiropractors, and specialist on an insurer’s panel from 12 to 5. Insurers would have to comply with a physicians' or chiropractors' written requests for voluntary removal from their panel.

The bill would permit the inclusion of telehealth providers, provided they offer telehealth services within a specific county and meet established criteria.

Furthermore, the bill clarifies that a provider cannot be involuntarily removed from the Department of Industrial Relation’s (DIR) panel without good cause, and that injured employees may continue treatment with their provider even if their employer changes insurers or administrators.
