Back to Regulatory Recap
Hawaii House Bill 2164 was introduced, which would update the state’s definition of “compounded prescription drug,” and effectively impact the management of such drugs.
According to the bill, the new definition would be “a drug product that is compounded by a licensed pharmacist in a state licensed pharmacy for an identified individual patient based on the receipt of a valid prescription order or a notation, approved by the prescribing practitioner, on the prescription order that a compounded product is necessary for the identified patient, and otherwise meets the requirements of title 21 United States Code section 353a.”
