Hawaii House Bill 205 was introduced, which would limit drug costs of nonprescription, over the counter, and non-legend drugs in workers’ comp.
Reimbursement rates would cap out at the drug’s cost plus 40% and would require requires clinical authorization to ensure the drug is clinically necessary for the work injury and allows providers to seek reimbursement for Hawaii general excise taxes.
This bill was created to limit inflation, in light of a lack of clear reimbursement guidelines in Hawaii.
