Arizona to Hold Public Stakeholder Meeting on Topical Medications Regulation

Back to Regulatory Recap

The Industrial Commission of Arizona’s Medical Resource Office will hold a stakeholder meeting on October 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM MST to continue discussions around prescription topical medications.

Stakeholders are invited to attend in person at the ICA Building or join virtually via Google Meets. Feedback and questions can be sent to MRO@azica.gov.

This meeting builds on a previous June 12th stakeholder meeting, presenting an opportunity to influence how prescription topical medications are regulated in Arizona’s workers’ comp system.

Healthesystems is engaged in these discussions, advocating for policies that protect injured workers, promote clinically sound treatment, and ensure fair reimbursement practices. In the June 12th meeting, Healthe’s Advocacy & Compliance and Clinical teams advocated the importance of clinically appropriate and cost-effective topical treatment. Our teams shared input on oversight, reimbursement, and clinical value, especially as the use of high-cost topical medications continues to rise, often justified by claiming they help avoid opioid use.

By participating, we help drive meaningful changes in response to rising costs and inconsistent clinical value.
