New York Budget Bill Could Expand Access to Providers

Back to Regulatory Recap

New York Senate Bill 3005 is a large budget bill that touches on many different regulations within the state of New York, but some key sections could improve access to providers in workers’ comp.

Instead of requiring authorization from the Workers’ Compensation Board, the bill would allow physicians, chiropractors, podiatrists, psychologists, therapists, acupuncturists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and licensed clinical social workers to treat workers upon receiving their license. Additionally, physicians in residency or fellowship programs would be allowed to treat injured workers with supervision.
