What is workers’ compensation?

Workers’ compensation is a type of employer insurance that pays lost wages to workers who have been injured or disabled due to a work-related injury or illness. Workers’ comp may also cover medical costs, disability, and rehabilitation.

What does a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) do?

PBMs help to manage the overall utilization, cost, and quality of workers’ compensation healthcare. They leverage their technology, clinical expertise, and pharmacy networks to negotiate drug prices, manage formularies, and process prescription drug transactions on behalf of their payer clients.

What is Ancillary Benefits Management (ABM)?

ABM refers to a program designed by Healthesystems that shifts the traditional model of managing workers’ compensation ancillary vendors and services, consolidating the procurement, integration, and performance management of multiple services, often through multiple vendors, through one program. Ancillary services include physical medicine, home health, diagnostic testing, Durable Medical Equipment (DME) such as wheelchairs, and more.
