Oklahoma Considers Excluding Interns from Workers’ Comp

Go to Advocacy & Compliance Home

Oklahoma Senate Bill 95 has been pre-filed, which would create a workers’ compensation exclusion for interns.

Current Oklahoma law requires workers’ comp insurance for employees, but lists several exceptions where a worker is not considered an employee. This bill would add a new exception to that list, including “any person engaging in a temporary work arrangement that allows the individual to observe a work environment and gain work experience without the expectation of financial compensation.”
