On July 8th the Indiana Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) issued notice that as of July 2026, parties submitting records for Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) should limit medical documentation to 500 pages for both statutory and Board-ordered examinations.
Under the guidance, parties are encouraged to collaborate in identifying the most relevant records for inclusion. According to the Board, the change reflects practices already adopted by some WCB members and is intended to help control IME costs while supporting the continued availability of qualified physicians to perform examinations and record reviews.
This new guidance may help to streamline the current claim dispute process and reduce overall administrative costs for all parties to the claim.
