IAIABC to Host PBM Legislation Webinar

Back to Regulatory Recap

The International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) and the American Association of Payers, Administrators and Networks (AAPAN) will host a webinar on August 20th at 12:00 PM CT to discuss the impact of PBM legislation on workers' comp systems.

According to the organizations, broad PBM reform measures intended for the commercial health market are creating unintended consequences in workers' comp, a system with fundamentally different regulatory and reimbursement structures.

IAIABC and AAPAN note that workers' compensation pharmacy service providers operate under state fee schedules, treatment guidelines, and the requirement to provide all medically necessary care to injured workers. As a result, certain PBM reforms create conflicting reimbursement requirements and threaten injured worker access to care.

The organizations emphasize that workers' comp pharmacy service providers are subject to regulatory limitations that commercial health PBMs do not have.
