Florida Senate Bill 1452 was enacted, extending key deadlines in Florida's workers' compensation reimbursement dispute process.

Health care providers now have 60 days instead of 45 days to petition the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) after a carrier adjusts or disallows payment of a medical bill. Carriers now have 45 days instead of 30 days to respond to reimbursement dispute petitions by submitting documentation supporting the payment adjustment or disallowance.

This change provides carriers and claims administrators with additional time to prepare and submit documentation when a medical reimbursement dispute is filed with DWC. Providers also have more time to challenge payment adjustments or disallowances. The legislation does not change Florida's 45-day medical bill payment requirement.
