Connecticut Reduces Drug Reimbursement Rates

Back to Regulatory Recap

The Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission’s announced that effective July 15, 2026, they have updated the Practitioner Fee Schedule, which includes a significant change to pharmacy reimbursement.

The new fee schedule for prescription drugs replaces the prior reimbursement formula - which was Average Wholesale Price (AWP) plus a dispensing fee - to a new formula with a substantially discounted rate below AWP.

Under the revised methodology, brand medications are reimbursed at AWP minus 20% plus a $5 dispensing fee, while generic medications are reimbursed at AWP minus 80% plus an $8 dispensing fee.

These changes substantially reduce reimbursement rates for prescription drugs.
