Colorado House Bill 26-1272 was enacted, which requires the division of labor standards and statistics a model temperature-related injury and illness prevention plan (TRIIPP) that thereafter must be made available on CDLE's website by July 1, 2028.
The bill specifies that there must be written procedures regarding:
- Access to cool potable water
- Access to cool-down or warm-up rest areas
- Monitoring workplace temperature conditions
- Acclimatizing new or returning workers during their first fourteen days of assignment
- Training workers to recognize signs and symptoms of temperature-related injury and illness
- Responding to temperature-related medical emergencies
- Other components and exemptions as needed
Additionally, the act requires the division to review and update the model TRIIPP at least every 5 years and grants the division authority to adopt rules necessary to implement the act.
Additionally, on or before January 15, 2027, the Division must begin collecting data concerning temperature-related injury or illness or temperature-related emergencies at worksites. The bill provides additional information on how this data will be utilized.
