Nevada Publishes FAQ for Upcoming Procedural Reforms

Back to Regulatory Recap

The Nevada Division of Industrial Relations (DIR) released a detailed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document to guide the implementation of Senate Bill 317, which introduces reforms across Nevada’s workers’ compensation system.

Aimed at insurers, third-party administrators (TPAs), self-insured employers, treating providers, and injured workers, the FAQ addresses both operational and compliance changes stemming from the new legislation.

One focal section covers the Official Disability Guidelines (ODG) drug formulary, adopted September 9, 2025. The FAQ clarifies processes around formulary change notifications and prior authorization timelines, helping stakeholders navigate the new drug approval protocols.

Another key area explores administrative fines and notices of correction. The document explains the difference in penalties for first-time versus repeat violations and specifies when DIR can issue follow-up fines, a vital update for carriers and TPAs adapting to stricter enforcement under SB 317.

Additionally, the FAQ delves into treating provider lists. It outlines DIR’s requirements for insurers regarding submission formats, provider panel updates, and deadlines—ensuring injured workers maintain access to current care networks.
