On June 27th, Healthesystems attended the Alaska Medical Services Review Committee (MSRC) meeting to gather insights on potential updates to the 2026 Workers’ Compensation Fee Schedule.
The Committee is considering changes to address reimbursement gaps and clarify payment rules. This would include fixed rates for Home Health & Ambulance services. Currently, home health has no schedule, and ground ambulance is reimbursed at the lowest of 85% of billed charges, the provider’s public rate, or a negotiated rate.
Other proposed changes would revise reimbursements for DME rentals for items without a fee schedule. Instead of invoice + 20%, rental items would be reimbursed at 10% of the invoice for monthly rates, with daily rates derived accordingly.
Additionally, Disability Evaluations would transition from RVU-based reimbursement to an hourly rate.
The Committee is working with their fee schedule consultant and reviewing data from other states. Discussions will continue at the July 18th meeting. All proposed changes remain under consideration and are not yet final.
These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the Committee and advocate for reimbursement policies that support operational strategies to address these challenges.
