Montana Senate Bill 109, which would expand the definition of “treating physician” in workers’ compensation to include state-licensed physical therapists, has passed both the House and Senate and currently sits with Governor Greg Gianforte.
Proponents of the bill highlight the increased accessibility and timely intervention for work-related injuries, while opponents contend that it does not sufficiently address access to physicians and physician assistants.
The bill passed almost unanimously in both chambers. The Governor has until May 1st to decide.
