Texas Senate Bill 454 was introduced, proposing an infertility presumption for firefighters and EMTs.
The presumption would apply to male and female reproductive systems that fail to achieve pregnancy after at least 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. The bill stipulates that these impacted first responders must have regularly responded to the scene of calls involving fires or events involving the documented release of radiation or known or suspected carcinogens.
This bill was pre-filed in late November, and the Texas 2025 Legislature will begin their session on January 14, 2025, ending June 2, 2025. It is possible this bill may be adjusted in the coming months.
