New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed Assembly Bill 1204 into law, allowing occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) and physical therapy assistants (PTAs) to treat injured workers under the supervision of a Board-authorized provider.
The law expands the scope of medical care to include OTAs and PTAs working within their specialized training and qualifications. The bill also requires treatment records to be maintained by the supervising provider and submitted to the Workers' Compensation Board as needed.
The law takes effect October 27, 2024.
