Go to Advocacy & Compliance Home

The Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) adopted amendments to Rule 16 - Utilization Standards and Rule 18 - Medical Fee Schedule. These rules work in tandem to establish the administrative processes and set reimbursement rates for healthcare services.

There were many updates, including mandatory e-billing by January 1, 2026 with standard billing formats, as well as revised reimbursement fees and terminology updates, one new update stands out.

Effective January 1, 2025, providers will no longer be able to dispense gabapentin directly to patients. Gabapentin shall only be dispensed by pharmacies going forward.
