Nevada Proposes Changes to Provider Panel Rules

Go to Advocacy & Compliance Home

On October 1st, the Nevada Division of Industrial Relations (DIR) held a hearing to discuss proposed regulations on how employer, insurer, or TPA physician networks must be maintained.

The proposal introduces an electronic database assigning Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) to panel physicians, replacing PDF submissions. Insurer and employer advocates expressed concerns about increased administrative burden and suggested using National Provider Identifiers.

The DIR clarified that while PINs have always existed, they will now be integrated into the CARDS database, launching in June 2025, with further stakeholder meetings and trainings planned. If this change is enacted, Nevada insurers will be required to update their reporting process, which could require resource-intensive data entry.
