Michigan Proposes Limiting Physician Dispensing to First 42 Days of Care

Back to Regulatory Recap

The Michigan Workers’ Disability Compensation Agency proposed updates to its Health Care Services rules and fee schedule. Among many proposed changes, this would limit physician-dispensed medication reimbursement to the first 42 days of care.

Additional changes proposed include:

  • Adopting 2026 CPT/HCPCS codes and adding telemedicine codes
  • Clarifying billing for radiology contrast
  • Replacing modifier -GF with non-physician practitioner reimbursement language

A public hearing on these proposed changes is scheduled for July 24, 2026, at 1:30 PM, with written comments due on the same day via mail or email (LEO-WDCA Attention to: Carrie Ross PO Box 30016 Lansing, MI 48909 or WCINFO@michigan.gov).

The rules will take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
