Back to Regulatory Recap
Louisiana House Bill 145 was signed into law, creating a reimbursement pathway for firefighters and law enforcement with extraordinary medical or dental expenses not covered by workers’ comp or employer-sponsored health insurance.
Such expenses would be covered by the Office of Risk Management on behalf of the Law Enforcement Officers and Firemen’s Survivor Benefit Review Board. The bill also establishes timelines for which the Board must review claims submitted to them, along with specifics on what types of expenses are covered, and other qualifications for applicable first responders.
