Arizona Pharmacy Network Bill Fails to Pass

Back to Regulatory Recap

Arizona House Bill 2813, which would have authorized employers and insurers to direct injured workers to contracted pharmacy networks, has stalled in the legislature and will not pass.

The bill was held in committee during hearings on February 16th and again on February 18th due to strong opposition and last-minute amendment discussions that would have excluded public employees like police officers and firefighters, and discussions related to first-fill reimbursement.

The bill was then heard on Monday, February 23rd in the House Appropriations Committee, but was not approved.

Pharmacy networks empower employers to direct injured workers to trusted, high quality pharmacies while supporting cost containment. Without legislative action, Arizona employers and insurers lack the ability to implement these strategies.
